Alcoholic

Any person who uses alcohol in amounts sufficient to interfere with his occupational or social adjustment is an alcoholic.

Alcoholic can not avoid the repeated use of alcoholic beverages : he is an excessive drinker who is unable to stop although to do so has become necessary because of health impairment, marital strife or difficulties at work.
