during the Psychiatric Interview the physicians attitude should be attentive, friendly, and encouraging ?.
Total emotional neutrality is neither possible nor desirable. The physician should avoid irritability, impatience, and indifference. He also should retain an appropriate objectivity in relation to the patient and his problem. Inquiry should begin by asking the patient to identify the problem for which he is seeking help.
The Psychiatric Interview is a therefore a particularly encounter. The purposes is to establish a therapeutic doctor-patient relationship, upon which accurate data collection and effective treatment depend.
The summary of the relevant data from the history and mental status examination must be written down.
