Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome

The Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome is a uncommon life-threatening idiosyncratic reaction to neuroleptic therapy.

The clinical signs are fever, tachypnea, tremors, tachycardia, rigidity, leukocytosis and altered consciousness. In some patients may be others complications as myoglobinuria, hyperkalemia, respiratory failure, myocardial infarction, renal insufficiency, and hepatic failure.

Disulfiram Therapy

Disulfiram Therapy is a type of treatment for alcohol addiction ; this drug interferes with the metabolism of “acetaldehyde” (a product in the metabolism of alcohol), and produces toxic symptoms and great discomfort.

If someone drinks alcohol some hours after having taken Disulfiram, he will experience headache,hyperpnea, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, sweating, hypo-tension and facial flushing .
